How we operate

I have the gear and the bike now what?

Bring your bike and gear to one of our club days.

We race on one Sunday per month, except in January.
We welcome new members to any club day. 

Each new MINI rider is able to enter a maximum of two club events (2 separate race days) without a membership or competition licence, provided that their parent or legal guardian signs an indemnity (One Event Licence) before the rider takes part in the event.
Only MINI classes are eligible for 2 x Free One Event Licences. After this, you must pay for the One Event Licences each club day.
One event licence is an extra $45 per rider.

If you hold a Motorcycling New Zealand (MNZ) Licence, you do not need a One Event Licence. 
MNZ Licences can be applied for through the MNZ Website, once you have become a member of an MNZ-affiliated Club, like ours.

Required gear

The following gear is compulsory:

  • Full Face Helmet

  • Goggles

  • Gloves

  • Body Armour

  • Purpose manufactured motocross boots.

The following gear is highly recommended:

  • Jersey – Heavy weight cotton or similar type fabric with long sleeves

  • Trousers – Long nylon motocross, heavy corduroy or heavy denim (jeans)

  • Motocross clothes are preferred.

Allowed Bikes and Race Classes

There are many choices when it comes to bikes and the choice is up to the individual usually based on age and ability.

Below is a list of the classes typically ridden at our club, there are age restrictions imposed by MNZ and followed by the club. When deciding which class your child should race in you need to take into consideration their age, as any children outside of the following ages listed will be unable to ride in that class.

Classes – this is subject to change on the day depending on numbers:

  • PW50 Only  4 – 7 (U8) years  – Mini Licence

  • Intro Trail 50cc 4 – 7 (U8) years – Mini Licence

  • Intro Trail 50cc 6 – 7 (U8) years – Mini Licence

  • Trail 51cc up to 140cc 7 – 11 (U12) years – Mini Licence

  • MX 50cc 6-8 (U9) years – Mini Licence

  • MX65 7-8 (U9) years – Mini Licence

  • MX 65cc 9 -11 (U12) years – Mini Licence

  • MX 65cc 8 – 11 (U12) years – Junior Licence

  • MX 85cc 8 – 16 (U17) years – Junior Licence

  • MX 125/250F 12 – 16 (U17) years – Junior Licence Only
